BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Brown men's tennis team was defeated by Florida Atlantic, 4-1, on Friday at the FAU Tennis Complex. The Owls edged the Bears for the doubles point and won the final three matches of the singles' round for the victory.

"What an incredible effort today," said head coach Tim Gray. "This was one of those matches where we kept on fighting in spite of difficult conditions. I am extremely proud of how much heart and grit each and every one of our guys displayed. We're not happy with the result, but we definitely got better today."

Doubles opened with a 6-2 Brown win by junior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and sophomore Teddy van Eck (Rye, N.Y.) in the third spot. Florida Atlantic was then able to take the point with two 7-5 wins in first and second doubles, respectively.

Junior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) tied up the match by taking his fourth singles match, 6-2, 6-4 before the Owls closed the match with victories in the fifth, second and third position. Litsky's battle in first singles was cut short, as he came back from a 6-0 first set loss with a 7-6 (8-6) win in the second set and held a 2-1 advantage in the third set before the match was ended.

The Bears will next start conference play at Yale on Sunday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. The match will be streamed on ESPN3.
