
Anton Casey and Michael Hoecht Named Brown Football Captains

Providence, R.I. -  Senior tight end Anton Casey(Bethesda, MD) and junior defensive end Michael Hoecht(Oakwood, OH) have been elected captains of the 2018 Brown football team by a vote of their teammates.

"Anton Casey and Michael Hoecht were near unanimous selections for team captains, showing that they have the respect and support of the team and coaching staff," said Brown head coach Phil Estes.  "They work hard and learn the game. Both are outstanding individuals on the field and off, and are exactly what we look for in a Brown student-athlete – outstanding leaders and role models."

Casey, a three-year starter, returns after making 14 catches for 198 yards.  The preseason All-Ivy selection has 46 career receptions and two touchdown catches. He made 30 catches for 252 yards in 2016.

A preseason All-Ivy selection, Hoecht started all 10 games last year, finishing with 45 tackles. He made a season high nine tackles and three quarterback sacks vs. Columbia. Hoecht also made 18 tackles as a freshman, including two sacks vs. Cornell.

Brown opens its season on Friday evening, September 14, traveling to San Luis Obispo, California, to face Cal Poly.  Game time is 10:00 pm EDT at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
