
Men's Tennis Concludes Season With 4-3 Victory Over Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team closed out the season with a 4-3 victory over Yale on Saturday at the Brown Varsity Tennis Courts. Freshman Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) gave the Bears the win when he came back to take the third set of his match 7-5.
Brown opened the afternoon by claiming the doubles point to take a 1-0 advantage. Junior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) and senior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) teamed up for a 6-2 win in the second spot while senior Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) and sophomore Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) followed in third doubles with a 6-4 victory.
Walker started the singles round with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in the third position to give the Bears a 2-0 lead. Yale next took a 3-2 lead by picking up wins in second, fourth and sixth singles. Tarwid knotted the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) victory in the first spot and Lam fought back from being down a break 5-4 to winning his third set 7-5 (6-3, 4-6, 7-5).
With his win today, Tarwid ties Chris Wolfe '01 for 18th all-time in singles wins at Brown with 59 while Sandberg concluded his career with 61 wins to tie Chris Lee '09 for 16th with 61 victories.
