
Women's Lacrosse Hosts No. 21/15 Dartmouth for Season Finale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will close out the 2018 season at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday, April 28 against No. 21/15 Dartmouth. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network and ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown was defeated by Columbia, 14-12, on Saturday, April 21 at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. The Lions held a two goal lead with three minutes remaining in the contest and shutdown multiple scoring chances by the Bears. Freshman Risa Mosenthal paced the Bears in scoring with five goals while sophomore Emma DeGennaro added a hat trick.
BEAR LEADERS
Freshman Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in points with 58, with a squad-best 51 goals and seven assists. Sophomore Emma DeGennaro has 46 points (29G, 17A) to rank second on the team in points while junior Hafsa Moinuddin (21G, 20A) has the third highest output with 41 points. For draw controls, Zaffino has a team-high 76. Senior Marissa Hudgins paces the defense with 20 caused turnovers while sophomore Emily Fryer adds a team-best 34 ground balls, ranking fourth in the conference (2.43 per game). Sophomore Maggie Bigelow has started 12 games between the pipes and has a 11.89 goals-against average and a 40.1 save percentage. Senior Mikaela Karlsson has appeared in eight games in goal with two starts and has totaled 195:21 minutes, a 13.21 GAA and a 44.2 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL LEADS THE WAY
Freshman Risa Mosenthal has had a stellar rookie campaign and has recorded a hat trick in 11 of the squad's 14 games on her way to 51 goals. The rookie's 3.64 goals per game average is second in the Ivy League while her 4.14 points per game are sixth. In the Brown record book, her 51 goals trail only Brown Hall of Famer Suzanne Bailey '91 (60) for goals in a season. Additionally, Mosenthal's 58 points tie Danielle Mastro '14 for fifth place for points in a season at College Hill.
IT STARTS AT THE DRAW
Brown ranks sixth in the nation in draw controls, averaging 15.86 per game, which leads the Ivy League. Junior Caroline Zaffino's team-high 76 this year rank first all-time for a single season at Brown. Senior Marissa Hudgins is second on the squad in draw controls with 47.
LAST SEASON VS. THE BIG GREEN
Brown was defeated by Dartmouth, 12-8, at Scully-Fahey Field on April 29 to close out the 2017 season. Dartmouth built up a 9-3 lead going into halftime and held off Brown in the second half for the victory. Three Bears would record two points in the contest in junior Hafsa Moinuddin (2G), junior Zoe Verni (1G, 1A) and sophomore Emma DeGennaro (2G). Senior Marissa Hudgins concluded the game with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls on defense. Taryn Deck led the Big Green with four goals while Kierra Sweeney put in two goals and added a pair of assists.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth is 11-3 on the year and 5-1 in Ivy League play while ranked No. 21 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the Inside Lacrosse Poll. The Big Green most recently defeated UMass Lowell in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, 18-7, for their fourth-straight win. Last weekend, Dartmouth beat Yale 17-4 in Hanover, N.H. Ellie Carson leads the squad in points with 59 on the year and has 48 goals and 11 assists. Tori Chanenchuk holds the Big Green's assist lead with 24 on the year to go along with 10 goals, tying for third highest on the team with 34 points. Kiera Vrindten has started all 14 games in goal and has a 9.88 goals-against average and a 45.5 save percentage. As a team, Dartmouth leads the Ivy League in goals per game (15.43) and shot percentage (45.7).

At the conclusion of Saturday's game, seniors Emma Dahle, Marissa Hudgins, Bri Irons, Mikaela Karlsson, Hannah Langmuir, Rose Mangiarotti, Carolyn Paletta and Madison White will be honored in a brief ceremony.
