New Haven, Conn. - Playing in one of the strongest competitive fields of the season, Brown placed eighth at the Macdonald Cup with a 54-hole team score of 870 at the par 70, 6810 yard Yale Golf Course. Bears' sophomore Drew Powell placed sixth overall at 207.
Illinois captured the team championship with a sizzling 825, followed by host Yale (832), Princeton (847), Stirling (848), Boston College (861), Penn (868), Harvard (869), Brown (870), Bucknell (875), Colgate (888), Yale B (888), Fairfield (900), Sacred Heart (905 and Fordham (912).
Powell's 207 was three-under par for the tournament, shooting a two-under 68, one-over 71 and two-under 68 on the final day. Senior Sasha Lobel was close behind shooting 215 on rounds of 70-72-73 for 20thplace individually.
Freshman Andy Zhou showed improvement each round, shooting 78-74-71—223, while junior Chuck Isgar shot 75-71-80—226. Junior Kenneth Li finished at 237 on rounds of 81-77-79. Junior Connor Riley played as an individual and posted rounds of 82-79-79—240.
Coach Mike Hughes' team will take a week off before returning at the Hoya Invitational, hosted by Georgetown, October 15-16 at Four Streams CC in Washington DC.
