
Equestrian Wins Becker Show in Fall Season Opener

PAXTON, Mass. – Brown University equestrian won its fall season opener behind four first-place finishes at the Becker IHSA Show on Saturday at the Becker College Equestrian Center.
Senior captains Sara Nordstrom (Medina, Wash.) and Victoria Flagg (Great, Falls, Va.), senior Caroline Marks (Seattle, Wash.), and sophomore Sophie Starck (New York, N.Y.) each earned blue ribbons on the day.
As a team, the Bears tallied 38 points, clearing all other opponents by five points or more.
Nordstrom took first place in open fences while senior Anna Seto (Barrington, R.I.) and sophomore Hannah Guevara (Pasadena, Calif.) placed second and third respectively in intermediate fences. Nordstrom also posted a fifth-place finish in open flat.
In intermediate flat, Flagg won a blue ribbon, and senior Annaliese Fries (Kirkland, Wash.) finished in fourth as both riders pointed up into open flat.
Marks took first place in novice fences while senior Madison Kuhn (Lancaster, Pa.) supported her with a second-place finish. In novice fences, senior Alejandra Zamora (New Canaan, Conn.) and junior captain Wallace Douglas (Ipswich, Mass.) placed third and fourth respectively.
Rounding out the day, Starck won her class in walk-trot, and sophomore Emma Ramsdell (Cambridge, Mass.) followed her closely with a second-place showing in her class.
Next, Brown competes at the Roger Williams University IHSA Show on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Nora Harris Equestrian in Tiverton, R.I.
