PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's ice hockey head coach Bob Kenneally '90 announced the hiring of Katelyn Parker as an assistant coach to the program on Monday.
Parker was most recently a member of the Colgate women's hockey team, where she served as the team's captain for the past two seasons. As a forward, she played in 141 games over her career, which is the most in program history. With the Raiders, Parker was a four-time recipient of the Sportsmanship Award, given to person that represents the true meaning of "team" (voted by teammates and coaches).
"I am pleased that we have added Katelyn to our staff," said Kenneally. "Her passion for the game of hockey is infectious. Katelyn is driven by challenges and the desire to learn. Her communication skills are top notch and she will have an immediate impact on our recruiting. Katelyn's leadership abilities and experiences she has had as a student-athlete at Colgate will translate to our players instantly. The Colgate coaching staff, for whom I respect tremendously, could not have spoken more highly of Katelyn and what she can bring to our team."
Parker's coaching career began in the summer of 2013 at the Collins Elite Hockey Camp in her hometown of Bellingham, Wash. With the camp, Parker worked with boys and girls ages 8-15, developing their hockey sense, level of play, and overall conditioning.
The following two summers (2014 and 2015), Parker was a coach at the Pro Ambitions Hockey Camp. In her role, Parker worked with players ages 9-17, to improve their skating and game skills, speed, and overall performance. She also managed the site's daily schedule.
Parker graduated from Colgate in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Studies and Geography.
