Providence, R.I. - The Brown women's golf team will launch its 2016-17 starting Friday, September 16 at Rutgers Invitational held at the Rutgers Golf Course in Piscataway, NJ. The Bears finished in 2nd place at Rutgers last season and tee-off with 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.
Brown's schedule is the strongest it has been in the recent years, and includes three fall tournaments in the northeast and one in Wilmington, NC. Following the Rutgers Invitational, the Bears will travel to Princeton, Oct. 1-2, and Yale, Oct. 7-9 to face many Ivy League conference foes.
The biggest news in the schedule is the first time invitation to the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., October 28-30, hosted by UNCW. The Landfall Tradition is in its 15th year and is considered one of the premier collegiate tournaments in the country. The Bears will compete against the top ranked field with teams such as Alabama, Purdue, Michigan State, Virginia, Carolina and Wake Forest.
"It is an honor to be invited to the Landfall Tradition and we are very grateful for the opportunity to compete on one of the highest levels of college golf, " said Brown head coach Danielle Griffiths.
The Bears are paced by junior two-time All-Ivy selection Christine Kim, who finished second at the Rutgers Invitational a year ago, and won the Ivy League individual championship in 2015.
