
No. 68 Women's Tennis Defeated by No. 71 Old Dominion, 4-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 68 Brown women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 contest to No. 71 Old Dominion on Sunday. The Bears started off strong winning the doubles point but were defeated 4-1 in singles play.
Junior Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) and sophomore Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) won first doubles by a convincing score of 6-1. Sophomore Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) and senior Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, N.J.) teamed up for a third doubles victory to capture the point for the Bears (6-2).
For singles play, No. 68 Benotto won second singles, 6-4, 6-1. In first singles, Lord won the first set, 6-1, but was unable to close out the match and fell 6-3 in both the second and third sets. Senior Hannah Camhi (Woodbury, N.Y.) also had a strong showing in her match (third singles), pushing her second set to extra points and winning 7-5, but was defeated in the first set, 6-1, and final set, 6-3.
The Bears will next travel to Florida to take on No. 57 Florida International on Sunday, March 27 for a 12:00 p.m. match and also compete against Florida Atlantic on Tuesday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.
