No. 52 Women's Tennis Outlasts Stony Brook, 5-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 52 Brown women's tennis team defeated Stony Brook on Saturday, 5-2, at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Brown captured the doubles point with a win from junior Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) and sophomore Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) in the top spot (6-0). To win the point, sophomore Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) and Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, N.J.) won third doubles, 6-4.
Lord started singles play off in first singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Benotto, who is currently ranked 101 in ITA singles rankings, defeated her opponent in second singles, 6-2, 6-0. Senior Hannah Camhi (Woodbury, N.Y.) posted a 6-0, 6-2 win in third singles to sweep the top-three for the Bears. Freshman Katie Ta's (Mission Viejo, Calif.) won fifth singles (6-3, 6-1) to further seal Browns victory.
The Bears will next travel to Texas to compete at Rice on Saturday, March 5 (12:00 p.m.), and then play at Houston on Sunday, March 6 (11:00 a.m.).
