
Women's Hockey Welcomes UConn for Tuesday Non-Conference Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team will play UConn in a non-conference game against UConn on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Meehan Auditorium. Puck drop versus the Huskies is set for 6:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
UConn enters Tuesday with a 6-4-1 overall record and a 2-2-0 mark in the Hockey East. The Huskies have won two straight, in a 7-1 victory over Merrimack (Nov. 5) and a 2-1 overtime win over New Hampshire (Nov. 6). UConn has three common opponents with Brown, in Union, No. 5 Quinnipiac and RPI, going 3-2-0 in those games, while the Bears went 1-2-0. Theresa Knutson leads the team in points with 12, off of an even six goals and six assists. Leah Lum has the team-high in goals with seven, to go along with three assists for 10 points, ranking second on the team. Briana Colangelo leads the squad in assists with seven on the season, and has scored two goals for nine points. Annie Belanger has played 10 games in goal, starting nine, and has recorded a 1.76 goals-against average, a .946 save percentage and one shutout for a 4-4-1 record. Morgan Fisher is 2-0-0 in net on the year and has a 1.51 GAA and a .943 save percentage. The Huskies have had good luck this season on the road, winning five of their six games on away ice.
BROWN TALKING POINTS
The Bears are led in scoring by freshman Alley Rempe who has three goals and a team-high five assists for eight points. The newcomer was named ECAC Rookie of the Week in the team's first weekend of play (Oct. 26). Junior assistant captain Sam Donovan leads the team in goals with five, and has one assist for six points, good for second on the team in overall points. Donovan registered her second-career hat trick against Sacred Heart on Oct. 22 in a 7-0 win. Senior Monica Elvin leads the team in game started in net, and has team-highs in goals-against average (2.86), save percentage (.908) and wins (2). When scoring first in a contest, the Bears are a perfect 3-0-0 this season.
LAST TIME VS. UCONN
The Huskies picked up a 4-2 win in the last meeting between the two teams on November 4, 2014. UConn scored one goal in the first period, two in the second and one in the fourth en route to its victory. Brown recorded its two goals in the third period. Senior Monica Elvin was in net, and registered 27 saves.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown split last weekend, going 1-1-0 in ECAC action. The Bears opened the weekend with a 3-1 win over Union, where senior Monica Elvin made a season-high 33 saves. Brown received goals from senior Maddie Woo, freshman Alley Rempe (game winner) and sophomore Leah Olson in the victory. Both Olson (1-1-2) and sophomore Bridget Carey (0-2-2) registered multi-point games against the Dutchwomen, with Carey tallying the primary assist on Rempe's game-winning goal.
On Saturday against RPI, Brown was defeated 4-1. The Engineers used three first-period goals and an empty net score in third to clinch the win. The Bears' lone goal was scored by junior Sam Donovan on the power play. Elvin again had a strong game in goal, stopping 30 shots.
NEXT UP
The Bears will play in their first road contests of 2016-17 when they travel to Cornell on Friday, Nov. 11 and Colgate on Saturday, Nov. 12. Friday's puck drop will be at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's game will begin at 3:00 p.m.
