
Women's Hockey Falls at Cornell, 4-0

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by Cornell, 4-0, in ECAC action on Friday night at Lynah Rink. All of the game's scoring took place in the third period, as the contest was scoreless through two.
The Bears slightly outshot the Big Red by a 5-4 margin in the first period. Brown also fought off its penalty in the stanza.
The second period remained scoreless like the opening period, but this time Cornell held the shot advantage in the period, 13-4. Cornell went 0-for-2 on the power play in the period while Brown was 0-for-1.
In the third period, Cornell scored early (2:05) as Hanna Bunton registered the score. Bunton then recorded her second goal of the game at 9:21 while the Big Red were on the power play. Later in the period, following a Cornell penalty at 16:15, Elvin was pulled in favor of the extra skater (17:08), but the Bears were unable to score. Cornell then went on to tack on two goals, the first an empty-net score by Kristin O'Neill at 18:05, and the second a power-play goal by Bunton for the hat trick at 19:11.
Senior Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) finished the game with 27 saves while Marlen Boissonnault made 13 stops for Cornell.
Freshman Sarah Migliori (East Greenwich, R.I.) tallied three shots for the Bears' offense.
The Bears will play tomorrow (Nov. 12) at No. 5 Colgate in a 3:00 p.m. contest at the Class of 1965 Arena.
