The Brown Women's golf team opens the fall slate with the Furman Lady Paladin in Greenville, SC Sept. 20-22. Furman will host the 54-hole event over 3 days with 17 teams including Wake Forest, UNC, Clemson and Columbia. This tournament alone will boost the program and the strength of schedule.
The Bears follow with the 54-hole Princeton Invitational on Oct. 2-4, to compete against a few Ivy foes. After traveling to Princeton, the Bears head to Rutgers for the 36- hole tournament against teams such as Delaware, Xavier and Dartmouth. Then the Bears host their annual Alumni Match Sunday October 25th at the Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, RI.
After the 2015 spring Ivy League individual win by Christine Kim '19 the Bears have momentum going into the fall season. The Bears return seven key varsity golfers including Senior Co-Captains Lauren Flynn and Juliette Garay.
With the addition of two standout freshmen recruits, Elizabeth Doykan from Houston, TX and Sasha Banks from Rancho Santa Fe the Bears will look to be in contention for an Ivy title this spring. Both Sasha and Lizzy were awarded with AJGA HP Scholastic Junior All-America team and to be eligible for this award you must place in the top 5 in an AJGA Open or Invitational and also have an outstanding GPA. Recently Lizzy won the Texas Collegiate Tour event with scores 73,74,76 and Sasha tied for 3rd place in the FGC National Tour with scores of 73,74.
