East Providence, R.I. – The snow has melted, the greens are open and it's time for golf to return to the Northeast. Brown's women's golf team, which just returned from its spring trip to Kapalua, Hawaii, will host the Sixth Annual Brown Bear Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday, April 12-13, at the par 71, 5,935-yard Donald Ross designed Metacomet Country Club in East Providence.
The 36-hole tournament begins with 18 holes on Sunday, April 13, with tee times starting at 10 am, and concludes with 18 holes and a 10am shotgun start on Monday, April 13, followed by an awards luncheon.
Sixteen teams will compete in this year's tournament, including Albany, Brown, Boston U., Central Connecticut, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hartford, Holy Cross, Hofstra, Long Island University, Penn, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Siena and Yale.
Coach Danielle Griffith's team features a mix of experience and youth. Freshmen Sienna Chapman and Christine Kim paced the Bears in their opening tournament in Kapalua. All-Ivy senior Stephanie Hsieh and senior Cassandra Carothers also played well, as did sophomore Rosanna Lederhausen and junior Juliette Garay.
Results for the tournament will be available daily on brownbears.com.
