DELAND, Fla. – The No. 67 Brown men's tennis team opened its three-match trek through Florida with a 4-1 win over Stetson on Tuesday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
The Bears improve to 12-2 this season, while the Hatters drop to 9-7 overall with the loss.
Brown came out flying in doubles play as the 78th-ranked duo of Brandon Yeoh/Justin To overwhelmed Stetson's Nathan Debut/Chester Espie, 8-3. The team of Aaron Sandberg/Jack Haworth followed suite by clipping the pair of Simon Julin/Graham Ball, 8-4 to capture the doubles point.
After the Hatters evened things up 1-1 with a win in No. 3 singles, Yeoh, Peter Tarwid, and Sandberg all scored wins to seal the match. Yeoh defeated Julin, 6-3, 6-1, while Tarwid cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ball. Sandberg ended things with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Espie.
To and Gregory Garcia's matches in the top-two slots were unfinished after Sandberg's match-clinching victory.
Brown returns to action tomorrow for a doubleheader against Florida Atlantic and Nebraska-Omaha beginning at 1:30 p.m. at FAU.
