
#36 Women's Tennis Drops 4-3 Heartbreaker to #39 Houston

PROVIDENCE, R.I – The No. 36 Brown women's tennis team battled No. 39 Houston hard on Saturday morning, ultimately falling to the Cougars, 4-3, at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Houston claimed the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles, where the top-three Bears shined with impressive victories to grab a 3-1 lead. Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) scored the upset win over nationally ranked No. 34 Despoina Vogasari, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Hannah Camhi (Woodbury, N.Y.) each grabbed 6-1, 6-4 wins over their Cougar opponents on Saturday.
Houston rallied in the final three matches to claim the come from behind victory, capped by Maria Cardenas marathon win over Brown's Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, Fla.), 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
Up next, the Bears return to action next Saturday to host Stony Brook in a match that was originally scheduled for Feb. 21.
