
Men's Soccer Entertains Vermont on Friday (7 p.m.)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will play host to Vermont on Friday, Sept. 26 (7 p.m.) at Stevenson Field before traveling to Fairfield on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. Links to live video and live stats will be available at brownbears.com.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown returns to Rhode Island after a two-game trip to Florida, where the Bears fell at South Florida, 3-1, and drew even with Florida Gulf Coast, 0-0, in double overtime. Sophomore Tyler Long scored in the 76th minute against South Florida for Brown's lone tally of the game. In the scoreless tie against FGCU, senior keeper Mitch Kupstas made a season-high eight saves.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont enters Friday's matchup at 5-2 overall, but has dropped two out of the last three contests after opening the season with four straight wins. Brian Wright leads the team with five goals and 12 points, and is the only player with more than one goal this season, while Brad Cole has three assists. Conor Leland is 3-2 in goal with a 1.40 goals against average, while Ryan Bailey is 2-0 in two starts.
LAST TIME AGAINST VERMONT
Brown will square off against Vermont for the first time since the 2010 season, when the Bears blanked the Catamounts, 3-0, on the road.
MARKES NAMED SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATE
Alex Markes has been named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award, which is presented each year to the outstanding senior NCAA Division I Student-Athlete of the Year across ten different sports. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
