PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown men's tennis team suffered its second setback in as many days on Sunday, dropping a tight 4-3 decision to No. 60 Princeton at the Lenz Tennis Center. The Bears have dropped three straight matches to fall to 10-8 this season while the Tigers improve to 12-8 overall.
After securing Sunday's doubles point, the Tigers needed Thomas Calautti's victory over Brown's Gregory Garcia to clinch the win for Princeton in a hard fought, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 battle in the No. 2 slot. Lucas Da Silveira grabbed his second win of the weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Dan Davies in the No. 6 spot.
Brown also got singles victories from William Spector and Daniel Hirschberg on Sunday, as the two juniors defeated their Princeton counterparts, 6-4, 6-3 and 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 respectively.
The Bears open up a three-match Ivy homestand next weekend, battling Columbia on Saturday and Cornell on Sunday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
