PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's ice hockey senior Kaitlyn Keon has earned ECAC Player of the Week honors after scoring five goals and recording a +4 plus/minus rating over three games, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
One of the team's assistant captains, Keon scored two goals in each of the Bears' two victories over Maine and added a penalty shot goal at UConn on Nov. 4. She needed just eight shots to score her five goals on the week.
In Friday's 5-2 win over the Black Bears, she posted the game's first goal and netted her second goal 3:39 into the third period to give Brown a 4-2 lead. The next day, she registered both of Brown's tallies in the second period to knot the score at 3-3 helping the team sweep the series with a 5-3 triumph.
On the season, the Toronto, Ontario, native leads the Bears with six goals and nine points. Her nine points leads all Ivy League performers, and her six goals tie for first among Ancient Eight competitors. She ranks tied for fifth in the ECAC in goals.
The 5-foot-8 forward became the first Bear to win ECAC Player of the Week accolades since Alena Polenska '13 won the award on Feb. 19, 2013.
Keon and the Bears return to ECAC play this weekend with match-ups at Cornell on Friday at 3 p.m. and at Colgate on Saturday at 3 p.m.
