LAST TIME OUT
Monica Masucci (Toronto, Ontario) scored in the third period, but No. 5 Harvard held onto its early lead as Brown dropped a 3-1 decision to the Crimson in the team's 2013-14 finale at Meehan Auditorium on Feb. 22.
The game marked the final collegiate contest for six Brown members of the class of 2014: co-captains Aubree Moore and Jennifer Nedow along with Jessica Hoyle, Kelly Kittredge, Vanessa Welten, and Samantha Woodward.
For the Bears, Masucci recorded her tally on assists from Brittany Moorehead (Clinton, N.Y.) and Kittredge. Moore made 26 saves to finish with 2,224 stops for her career.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
RIT enters the weekend with a 3-2-1 overall record and has yet to play a contest in College Hockey America action.
Last weekend, the Tigers split a series at the University of Vermont, falling 2-1 on Saturday prior to winning 2-0 on Sunday.
Celeste Brown and Lindsay Grigg lead the Tigers with two goals each while Emilee Bulleid and Haley Northcote share the team lead with three assists apiece. In goal, Ali Binnington has recorded a 0.81 goals-against average and a .968 save percentage.
LAST SEASON'S MEETINGS
Last year, the two teams split a series in Rochester, N.Y., with RIT taking a 2-1 win on Oct. 25, 2013 and the Bears earning a 2-1 overtime victory the next day.
In Brown's win, Maddie Woo (Plymouth, Minn.) scored the game-winner in the extra session off assists from Erin Conway (Jackson, Mich.) and Jennifer Nedow. Jessica Hoyle tied the game with just less than three minutes left in the third period.
TOP FOUR SCORERS RETURNING
Brown returns its top four scorers from a season ago in seniors Sarah Robson (Mississauga, Ontario), Janice Yang (Westport, Conn.), and Kaitlyn Keon (Toronto, Ontario) as well as sophomore Erin Conway.
Robson led the team with 14 points on five goals and nine assists while Yang posted a team-best seven goals to go with five assists. Conway tallied three goals and eight assists last year, and Keon registered five goals and six assists.
THE CAPTAINS
Senior Lauren Vella (Staten Island, N.Y.) will serve as the team's captain in 2014-15. One of the team's strongest blue line players, she enters the season with 84 career games played. Kaitlyn Keon and junior Alli Rolandelli (Minnetonka, Minn.) will act as the squad's assistant captains.
NEW FACES IN GOAL
The Bears will turn to sophomore Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) and freshman Julianne Landry (Hanover, Mass.) to serve as the team's net-minders this winter, replacing Aubree Moore who earned All-Ivy and All-ECAC honors last season.
Elvin played in two games last year including a contest against Maine where she did not allow a goal and made 23 saves over 31 minutes. Landry comes to Brown after a standout high school career at Thayer Academy.
COMING SOON
Brown remains at home next weekend as the Bears host Clarkson on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. and St. Lawrence on Saturday at 3 p.m. After a mid-week game at Connecticut (Nov. 4, 7 p.m.), Brown returns to Meehan Auditorium for a pair of contests with Maine – on Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. and on Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.
