NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Senior James McNamara (Encino, Calif.) fired in five goals and junior Henry Fox (Mercer Island, Wash.) added four scores to power the No. 17 Brown men's water polo team to a 15-13 victory over Iona in Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division action on Sunday. The Bears climb to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in Division play, while the Gaels shift to 1-9 overall and 1-1 in the North.
An evenly-contested first half resulted in an 8-8 tie heading into the third quarter, which saw senior goalie Walker Shockley (Diamond Bar, Calif.) reenter the game and hold the Gaels to five second-half goals. The defensive effort proved just enough as the Bears rattled off five goals in the third and a pair in the fourth to pull away as 15-13 victors.
Brown returns to action on Saturday, Sep. 28, with a Northern Division doubleheader in Massachusetts when the Bears take on MIT at 3 p.m. and Harvard at 9 p.m.
