
Men's Tennis Opens Ivy Season with 5-2 Win over Penn

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown men's tennis team (12-6, 1-0) opened its Ivy schedule with a 5-2 win over visiting Penn on Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center courts. The Bears won all three doubles matches and then claimed four of six singles matches to post the victory, while improving to 12-6 overall.
Hill increased Brown's lead to 2-0 with a victory at #2 singles (6-4, 6-4), while Riechmann gave Brown a 3-0 advantage with a win at #1 singles (7-6 (4), 6-4). The Quakers got on the board with a win at the #4 position and then closed Brown's lead to 3-2 with a victory at #3 singles. Sophomore Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, CT) clinched the decision for Brown with his 6-3, 6-4 win at #6 singles, while Burke closed out the match with a victory at #5.
Brown continues action on Sunday, April 7, when it hosts Princeton in a 2:00 p.m. match.
