Providence, R.I. - Brown senior defensive back Emory Polley (University Heights, Ohio) has been named to the AFCA FCS Coaches' All-America Team, earning first team honors.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team every year since 1945. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
Polley led the nation with six interceptions in 2013 (0.6 per game) and finished his Brown career with 11 interceptions, sixth best all-time at Brown. A two time All-Ivy selection, Polley earned First Team All-Ivy and All-New England honors in 2013.
"Emory is one of the outstanding true cover corners in the nation, following in the footsteps of AJ Cruz '13," said Brown head coach Phil Estes. "He's a dominant corner, who plays the pass and run equally as well. Emory is a tremendously hard worker, who had a great year and is very deserving of this award."
Polley, a three-year starter for the Bears, also led the Brown team with four pass break-ups, while finishing with 36 tackles, including 27 solo stops. An American Studies concentrator, Polley was named the Ivy League's Defensive Player of the Week after leading Brown's defense to a shutout victory over Penn that knocked the Quakers out of first place in the Ivy League standings, by intercepting two passes against the Quakers.
