No. 11 Brown Men's Soccer Blanks Penn, 1-0

Philadelphia, Pa. –Sophomore forward Ben Maurey (Downingtown, PA) has done it again for the No. 11 Brown men's soccer team. For the third straight game, Maurey has scored the game-winning goal, and this time it was against Penn on Saturday evening. The Bears improved to 12-1-2 on the year to earn their 10^th shutout and extend their unbeaten streak to 11 games.

Maurey scored his fourth goal of the year to become Brown's leading scorer with 10 points just 3:59 into the game. Senior midfielder Kevin Gavey passed the ball to senior forward Bobby Belair, whose shot was deflected to an open Maurey who one-touched the ball to the top left corner of the net to give Brown a 1-0 edge.

The Bears continued to attack the Penn defense as Belair had back-to-back shots in the 15^th minute that were saved by Penn's Max Kurtzman, and Jameso Lochead had a header in the 29^th minute that got denied.

Brown had an 11-9 advantage in shots in the first period, and both goalkeepers turned away six shots on net. Senior Sam Kernan-Schloss (Arlington, VA) picked up two more saves in the second half to end the night with eight saves.

Brown continued to pressure the Quakers and out-shot Penn 7-2 in the final period to lead 18-11 for the game. The Bears also led 9-5 in corner kicks.

The Bears will now host Yale at Stevenson Field at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
