
Men's Golf 16th At OGIO-Santa Barbara Invitational

Santa Barbara, CA - The Brown men's golf team, playing its first competition of the spring season, shot a final round 310 to place 16th with a three-round 937 at the OGIO-Santa Barbara Invitational, held at the7,068 yard, par-72 Sandpiper Golf Club.
Oregon, ranked 30th nationally, captured the team title by 27 shots over second place UC Santa Barbara (879), followed by Fresno State (885), Pacific (894), CSU-Northridge (895), San Jose State (897), Sacramento State (901), Long Beach State (901), Southern Utah (904), CSU-Fullerton (906), Weber State (917), Seattle (924), British Columbia (930), CSU-Bakersfield (930), UC Riverside (934) and Brown (937).
Senior captain Michael Amato really stepped up his play in the third and final round, shooting 74 after rounds of 75-58, to finish at 227, 29th individually in the 87-player field.
Sophomore JD Ardell also improved each day, shooting 80-76-75—231 to place 47th individually. Freshman Kyohei Itamura shot a final round 85 to finish at 234, while freshman Jack Mylott carded a 6-over 78 to complete the tournament at 244. Freshman peter Callas came in at 245 after a final round 83.
Brown's spring trip continues on Saturday, Aprtil 2, with a match against the University of Arizona, at the Country Club of Arizona in Vistoso, Tucson, AZ.
