NEW HAVEN, CT – The Brown field hockey team (4-13, 0-7) dropped a 7-0 decision to Yale (11-6, 6-1) on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. The Bear were outshot, 51-6, for the game, including a 27-3 margin in shots on goal. Freshman Shannon McSweeney (Boxborough, MA) was spectacular in net, stopping a career-high 20 shots, five saves shy of Brown's record for saves in a game.
The Bulldogs went ahead, 1-0, 7:06 into the game when Georgia Holland scored on a broken corner play. Holland's goal would prove to be the game-winner, but Yale added three more, scored by three different players, before the end of the first half.
Yale continued to attack the net in the second half, as Erin Carter gave the hosts a 5-0 lead just seven minutes into the second frame. Kirsten Krebs and Carter added goals six minutes apart in the final 10 minutes of play to account for the 7-0 final.
