
Bears Downed by Big Red, 3-1

Ithaca, N.Y. - Despite 21 kills by junior Katrina Post (Pasadena, Calif.) the Brown volleyball team was topped 3-1 (19-25, 16-25, 25-17, 23-25). The Bears and Big Red played close early in the match before Cornell grabbed momentum in the second, but Bruno rallied back to take the third set, before narrowly being edged by Cornell.
Brown and Cornell were tied at 19-all in the first set after a kill by rookie Maddie Lord (La Jolla, Calif., but the Big Red used its home court to its advantage, closing out the frame on a 6-0 run.
Cornell continued its run into the second, using the momentum it had gained in the first to gain a 2-0 match advantage.
The close early sets continued in the fourth as both teams battled to a 13-all, then 18, 22 and 23-all ties. From there it was the Big Red which was able to take advantage, recording the next two points to secure a 25-23, and 3-1 win.
Brown is back in action tomorrow at Columbia in match against the Lions at 5 p.m.
