Boston, MA- The Brown men's water polo squad suffered a 13-9 loss to St. Francis during the ECAC Championship game hosted at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool on Sunday afternoon. Junior Max Lubin led Brown's defense with a career-high 13 saves in net, while James McNamara led the Bears' offense with three goals.
Brown and St. Francis went goal for goal in the first two quarters, but the Terriers outscored Bruno in both the third and fourth quarters to capture the win. The game was tied 5-5 at the half, but St. Francis outscored Bruno 6-3 in the third and 2-1 in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
"St. Francis took advantage of some sloppy place on our offensive end and turned them into goals in the third," said Head Coach Felix Mercado. "Overall, I am pleased with the weekend and feel that we are heading in the right direction."
Following behind McNamara on offense was sophomore Svetozar Stefanovic with two goals, while Corey Schwartz, Gordon Hood, Cyrus Mojdehi and Ryan Gladych each tallied one apiece.
