WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ -
The Brown field hockey team (0-3) dropped a 3-0 decision to
Monmouth (3-1) on Saturday afternoon at So Sweet A Cat Field. The
Hawks scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal just 13
minutes into the game and then added two goals in the second half
to account for the 3-0 final.
Sophomore Alexis Aurigemma (Wilmington, DE) earned the start in net
and made eight saves to help lead Brown, which was outshot, 20-3.
Monmouth also controlled the penalty corners, 15-1.
In addition to Aurigemma's eight saves, junior Bridget McNamara
(Bethesda, MD) made a big play on defense, recording a defensive
save less than 10 minutes after the Hawks had taken a 2-0
lead.
After three straight road
games to open the year, Brown returns to action this weekend when
it hosts Columbia in its 2010 Ivy opener on Saturday at 1:00 and
then Bryant on Sunday at 12:00 noon.
