
Men's Golf Earns National Academic Recognition

Providence, RI - Brown University's men's golf team posted the second highest team GPA in the nation and was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America with the prestigious President's Special recognition as one of the Top 10 academic teams in the nation.
"This award is important for me as a coach to know that we have recruited quality student-athletes who embrace the true meaning of combining athletics while carrying a full curricula of Ivy Academics," said Bears head coach Mike Hughes, whose team posted a 3.59 GPA. "I'm very proud of this team."
A total of 113 teams submitted GPA's of 3.00 or higher and earned All-Academic Team recognition. Brown, Butler, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Duke, East Tennessee State, Gonzaga, Mercer, Seton Hall and Wofford, who were also accorded President's Special Recognition status for earning team GPA's of 3.50 or better.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college of university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
The Brown men's golf team was recently recognized by the NCAA with a Public Recognition Award. High-performing teams receiving public recognition awards this year posted Academic Progress report (APR) scores ranging from 978 to a perfect 1,000.
