Providence, RI - Playing in chilly and windy conditions, the Brown men's golf team shot a first round 317 for eighth place at the New England Division I Golf Championship at the par-72, 6595 yard Triggs Memorial Golf Club. UConn lead the tournament by three shots after a first round 293.
Freshman JD Ardell recorded the best score of the day for the Bears, and is 14th individually, with a four-over 76 on nine's of 38-38. Junior Michael Amato grinded to shoot 79, 31st individually.
Senior John Giannuzzi came in with 80, while freshmen Jack Mylott and Chris Williams shot 82, 83 respectively.
The Bears will tee off starting at 8:10 a.m. in Sunday's final round.
