
Brown Finishes 10th At Connecticut Cup Golf

Ellington, Conn. - The Brown men's golf team showed improvement in each round at the Connecticut Cup, hosted by the University of Connecticut at the par-72, 6,936 yard Ellington Ridge Country Club. Brown shot a three-round 930 on rounds of 312, 310, 308 to place 10th overall.
Iona captured the team title by two shots with an 895 team score, followed by UConn Blue (897), UConn (900), American International (908), Hartford (913), Sacred Heart (913), Siena (914), Central Connecticut (915), Fairfield (928), Brown, Bryant (941), Long Island University (953), and Purchase (1077).
Competing for the fourth consecutive day in two states, the road weary Bears had two final round 74's. Freshman Peter Callas was Brown's top finisher, placing 21st individually with a three-round 230 after carding a two-over par 74 on the final day. Sophomore JD Ardell was Brown's second top scorer for the tournament with a three-round 232. Senior captain Michael Amato stepped up on the final day of competition, shooting 74 to finish the tournament at 233.
Sophomore Ryan Hoskins completed the tournament at 237, while sophomore Jack Mylott came in at 242 for the three rounds.
Coach Mike Hughes' team will wrap up its fall schedule at the Northeast Invitational, October 16-17, at the Shelter Harbor GC.
