Murphy Announces Class of 2013

Head coach Digit Murphy recently announced the addition of seven
newcomers to her 2009-2010 squad. Joining a veteran-laden
team, the rookies should be able to provide an infusion of young
talent and enthusiasm that could help carry the Bears into the
upper ranks of the ECAC this season.
Erica Farrer
Left Wing
Calgary, Alberta
Edge School for Athletes
Hockey: Three-year letterwinner at the Edge School, including
serving as an assistant captain her senior season. She also
played for the Midget AAA Calgary Chaos for two seasons, and led
her team to a third place finish in the JWHL.
Track: Lettered three times in track as a high jumper and distance
runner. Took first at the ISAA City Championships in the
4x400 and 4x100 relays, and the 1500 and 3000 meter individual
runs. She also placed second in the ISAA in the high
jump.
Kelly Griffin
Center
Apex, North Carolina
North American Hockey Academy
Hockey: Played at the North American Hockey Academy, as well as
with club teams Assabet Valley and the East Coast Eagles. Won
the U-16 National Championship with Assabet Valley in 2006.
In the two seasons from 2007-09, had an overall record of 131-20-12
at the Hockey Academy, including a senior season in which she
scored 74 points in 78 games. Attended the National
Development Camp with USA Hockey for four years.

College Sainte-Anne
Hockey: Played for two seasons with Dawson College following four
years with the Lac Saint-Louis Selects team. Was a 2009
All-Star selection in Collegial AA with Dawson, leading them to a
JWHL championship. Also served as an assistant captain.
Katie Jamieson
Goalie
Waterloo, Ontario
Bluevale High School
Hockey: Played for three club teams, most recently the
Toronto Junior Aeros. Won the Top Goalie Award in 2009 in the
Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) while recording the
best save percentage in the league and leading the Aeros to the
PWHL Championship. Also played on Provincial bronze medal
teams in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Received the Most Dedicated
Player Award in 2004-05.
Alena Polenska
Defense/Forward
Caslav, Czech Republic
Wyoming Seminary College Prep
Hockey: Won a bronze medal at the 2008 U-18 World Championships,
and was named the MVP of the Czech team. Also won a player of
the game award in the contest against Finland. Won a gold
medal at the roller hockey 2008 World Championships in Germany, the
first time that a European team had won the event. Has been a
member of the Czech National Team since 2004, and helped the team
qualify for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Played on three club
teams, most recently the Princeton Tiger Lilies. Last season,
she led the Tiger Lilies to a division championship, and was named
the league MVP and Gold Award recipient.
Alexandra Piersiak
Defense
Needham, Massachussetts
Noble and Greenough School
Hockey: Captained the Nobles hockey team her senior season.
Was an all-league selection in her junior season, and honorable
mention as a sophomore. Played for five seasons on the Nobles
varsity squad, winning five ISL titles and three New England
championships over that span. Also won three ISL titles in
field hockey, and a New England championship in rowing.
