The Brown volleyball squad wrapped up the 2009 season on Tuesday evening, as the visiting Yale Bulldogs stole a 3-0 win despite rookie Katrina Post's 12 kills and 16 defensive digs. With the loss, the Bears finish the season at 6-19 on the season, and 2-12 in league play, while Yale wraps up with a 21-4 overall mark, including 11-3 against Ivy opponents.
The Bears shocked Yale in the first set, coming out with some of their strongest play of the season to grab a 17-13 lead. However, the Bulldogs slowly began coming back, eventually tying the score at 21. From there, the teams traded points, eventually forcing the score into extra points, before Yale took a 29-27 opening win. That appeared to awaken the Bulldog offense, as Yale jumped out to a 21-12 lead in the second set, eventually going on to win 25-13.
In the third, the Bulldogs again had the upper hand, opening up a 23-14 lead. Though the Bears outscored Yale 4-2 the rest of the way, the visitors held on for the match sweep with a 25-18 win.
Junior Brianna Williamson posted her second consecutive double-double, notching 10 kills and 10 digs, while rookie libero Carly Cotton had a team-high 20 digs.
