A Second Team All-Ivy selection as a senior in 1988, Bernie Buonanno finished his career fifth on Brown’s all-time scoring list with 83 goals and 66 assists for 149 points. Even today, he still ranks tenth on Brown’s career scoring list.

A tri-captain his senior year, Buonanno led the laxers in scoring with 50 points in 1988. In addition to being a Second Team All-Ivy choice, he was named to the All-New England Second Team as well as the Offensive MVP of the team.

A three-year starter at attack, Buonanno helped lead the Bears to two NCAA playoff berths in his freshman and junior years. Known for his outstanding, yet unselfish play, Buonanno could both score on his own and set-up his teammates for scoring opportunities.

Despite playing with a broken wrist during much of his junior season, he finished second on the team in scoring with 25 goals and 14 assists for 49 points in 1987.

Buonanno earned an All-Ivy Honorable Mention his sophomore year in 1986, scoring 31 goals and 18 assists for 49 points. As a freshman, he tallied six goals and five assists for 11 points. Brown captured the Ivy League Championship that year.

Buonanno, who was selected by a vote of the Brown lacrosse alumni as a member of the All-Century Team, graduated from Brown in 1988. He went on to work in the investment banking business for three years. He then attended the Harvard Business School where he received his MBA in 1993.

Returning to Providence that same year, he joined Fleet Equity Partners. In July of 2000, Buonanno left Fleet to help form Nautic Partners, where he is currently a Managing Director. He is also currently a member of the Brown Athletic Advisory Council.

Buonanno and his wife, Heidi, have three children, Meghan, Nicholas and Kari.
