Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium has been the home of Brown baseball since its opening in 2017. The facility is located within the Erickson Athletic Complex off Hope Street and Lloyd Avenue.
FEATURES
One of the top facilities in the Ivy League, Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium features the largest sunken dugouts in the league, spacious batting tunnels and bullpens, and state-of-the-art field turf, including an artificial mound that was installed ahead of the 2023 season. A tension netting backstop provides unobstructed views of the entire playing field, while over 350 chair back seats and ample standing room provides a comfortable setting for fans. There is also a press box behind the grandstand, and storage rooms off both dugouts.
HISTORY
Construction of the new Murray Stadium was complete in November 2016 and Brown hosted its first game at the new venue on March 18, 2017, with a doubleheader sweep of Bryant. The field was part of a $5 million project for the baseball and softball complex, which was funded entirely by donations.
The baseball field was dedicated on April 30, 2017 in honor of Mark Attanasio ’79, principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers and Chairman of Norwich City FC, who was a lead donor for the project.
The field was constructed on the same location as the Bears’ former home field, known for decades as Aldrich Field, which was demolished following the 2016 season. While the former Aldrich Field was completed in 1959, the Bears did not begin playing home baseball games on the site until 1963.
On April 21, 2007, the former Aldrich Field was officially rededicated in honor of Suzanne and Terrance Murray and their children, Paula Murray McNamara ’84 and Christopher Murray ’84 for their commitment and generosity to the Brown baseball program. Their name was carried over to the current stadium upon its 2017 opening.
