Women’s Water Polo’s Dvonch Earns CWPA Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo freshman attacker Katie Dvonch has earned CWPA Rookie of the Week honors after helping lead the Bears to a 2-0 weekend, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Monday.

Dvonch (Seal Beach, Calif.) helped Brown defeat Iona, 14-6, and Villanova, 12-5, on Saturday in a pair of games at Harvard's Blodgett Pool.

Over the two games, Dvonch totaled six goals, three assists, and two steals in her first two collegiate contests as Brown went 2-0 on opening day. Dvonch posted three goals and an assist against Iona and contributed three goals, two assists, and two steals against Villanova.

Next, Brown hosts the Bruno Classic from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center as the Bears play in six games against Austin (Jan. 31, 5:00 p.m.), Siena (Jan. 31, 7:00 p.m.), LIU (Feb. 1, 9:15 a.m.), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Feb. 1, 7:15 p.m.), Whittier (Feb. 2, 8:00 a.m.), and No. 21 Wagner (Feb. 2, 12:40 p.m.).
