SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Makena Ehlert posted a double-double on 14 kills and 10 digs, sophomore Kristin Sellers tallied a double-double on 26 assists and 13 digs, and Brown University volleyball swept Bryant University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21), on Tuesday night at the Chace Athletic Center.
Â
The Bears (7-1) earned their sixth straight win and continued their best start since the 2008 season behind the straight-set victory over the host and intrastate rival Bulldogs (5-7).
Â
"Bryant is really good at home," Brown head coach Ahen Kim said. "In set one as big as a lead as we had – Bryant is a good team, and they dug in deep. We executed the scout really well to our team's credit and forced them to do something different. We knew it would be a dog fight, but our players kept making adjustments and kept evolving to stay slightly ahead of them. I'm really proud of them for that."
Â
Ehlert (Orange County, Calif.) registered her fifth double-double of the season on her match-high 14 kills and 10 digs and has now posted double-figure kills in all eight matches on the year. Sellers (Menlo Park, Calif.) notched her second consecutive double-double on her match-best 26 assists and 13 digs and has compiled 20 or more assists in all eight matches on the year.
Â
