Boston, MA - Freshman Caitlin Stone (Condon, MT) was Brown's top scorer to help lead the women's cross country team to a second place finish at the 2008 New England Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park. The No.2 ranked Bears in the New England Cross Country poll tallied a total of 141 points, as Stone turned in a solid 18:29 performance this afternoon. Placing in front of Brown was nationally ranked Boston College, who combined for 38 points, as Williams earned third place with 190 and Dartmouth in fourth with 193.
Following right behind Stone was sophomore Kesley Ramsey (Franklin Lakes, NJ) with an 18:29 for 24th place,which was a minute faster than last year, followed by freshman Eliza Weber's (Stoddard, NH) time of 18:30 for 27th, which was 30 seconds quicker than her personal record for Franklin Park. Rounding out the scoring for the Bears was sophomore Lauren Pischel (La Jolla, CA) with an 18:30, which was a minute quicker than her last year's time, and sophomore Lara Heigis (Walpack, NJ) with an 18:42.
Coming up next for the women's cross country squad is the University of Albany on Oct. 18. The Bears will then head to Central Connecticut on Oct. 25, before traveling to Van Cortlandt Park for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Oct. 31.
