Women's XC Earns Third at Rothenberg Invitational
Warwick, RI- The Brown University women's cross country team raced to a third place finish at the home meet, the Rothenberg Cross Country Invitational, on Friday at Goddard State Park. Brown hosted five teams including Boston College, Dartmouth, UMass Amherst, and Rhode Island University.
Senior Elizabeth Ryan (Farmington, CT) led the Bears completing the flat and rain softened five-kilometer course in 18:59 for 13th place. Freshman Victoria O'Neil (Boise, ID) crossed just after Ryan in 19:03 (14th place).
Freshman Kate Buss (Blacksburg, VA) and junior Kelsey Albright (Topsfield, MA) worked the course together to finish in 18th (19:18) and 19th (19:20) places respectively. Rounding out the scorers for the squad was Emily McGurrin (Manlius, NY) finishing in 19:39 (24th place).
Sophomore Abigail Braiman (Horseheads, NY) and freshman Sophie Mateu (Simi Valley, CA) both raced to sub-20 minute finishes. Sasha Teninty (Eugene, OR), Tess Plant-Thomas (San Diego, CA), and Taylor Williams (Orange, CA) brought in the next wave of Brown finishers. Other racers for the Bears included Elizabeth Costa (Rumford, RI) and Audrey Davis (Galion, OH).
The Rothenberg Run was the final competition before the championship meets begin. The Bears will travel to Princeton next weekend, October 27th, for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship.
