Springfield Named Director of Track & Field/Cross Country at Brown
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a successful 2012-13 season as the Interim Director of Track & Field/Cross Country at Brown University, Tim Springfield has been appointed as the director of the program, announced by Director of Athletics Jack Hayes on Thursday.

Connelly Competes at NCAA Championship
Louisville, K.Y. –Junior Margaret Connelly (Chicago, IL) represented the Brown University Cross Country team today at the NCAA Championship at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. Connelly finished in 130th place out of a field of 253 athletes that qualified for the meet. She completed the course in 20:59 averaging 5:36 per mile.

Connelly & Caldwell Earn All-Northeast Region Honors
Providence, R.I. – Two members of the Brown Cross Country team have been recognized with All-Northeast Region honors as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Runners who finished in the top 25 individually at Friday’s Regional meet at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn., were recognized with the distinction.

Men's and Women's Cross Country to Compete at NCAA Northeast Regional
Madison, C.T.- The Brown University men's and women's cross country teams will visit Hammonasset Beach State Park this Friday, November 9th, to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet hosted by Fairfield University. The women's six–kilometer race is slated to start at noon, while the men's 10k race follows at 1:15 pm. The condition of the course was declared acceptable following Hurricane Sandy by both Yale and Fairfield coaches, but conditions may turn out to be waterlogged or sluggish following the snow from this week.

Connelly Leads Women’s XC at NCAA Northeast Regionals
Madison, C.T. – Brown University’s cross country program faced a large field of nearly 40 teams from the region today at the NCAA Division 1 Northeast Championships. Seven individuals from each the men’s and the women’s teams competed at Hammonassett State Park earlier today.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes Third at Ivy League Heptagonal Championships
Princeton, N.J. – The Brown University women's cross country team combined for 93 points to finish in third place at the 2012 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championship hosted at Princeton on Saturday afternoon. Cornell won the team title with 31 points, followed by Princeton with 91 points in second.

Women's XC Travels to Princeton for Ivy League Heptagonal Championship
Princeton, N.J. - The Brown University women's cross country team will travel to Princeton's West Windsor Fields for the 2012 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Each of the Ancient Eight will race twelve individuals as they compete for the conference title and for points to help qualify out of the regional meets to the NCAA Championships later in the season.

Women's XC Earns Third at Rothenberg Invitational
Warwick, RI- The Brown University women's cross country team raced to a 3rd place finish at the home meet, the Rothenberg Cross Country Invitational, on Friday at Goddard State Park. Brown hosted five teams including Boston College, Dartmouth, UMass Amherst, and Rhode Island University.

Heidi Caldwell Leads Women's XC at University of Wisconsin Adidas Invitational
Madison, WI- Brown's Women's Cross Country Team competed in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday. The meet was held at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course at the University of Wisconsin, and boasted an impressive field both in terms of the number of teams competing and the caliber of the participating programs. The Bears finished in 26th place overall out of 49 teams. They were just one point behind League rival Princeton University and on the heels of Harvard's team.

Women's Cross County Team Competes at New England Championship
Westfield, MA- The Brown University women's cross country team competed Sunday at the New England Championships. The Bears entered nine women in the competition, and it was either the first or second racing opportunity of the season for several of the racers. The squad came away with a handful of personal records for 5-kilometers and a solid group effort. The rest of the team will be competing next weekend at the University of Wisconsin.

Women's Cross Country Earns 8th at Paul Short Invitational
Bethlehem, PA-The Brown University women's cross country team raced to an 8th place finish Friday at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. Their 196 team points put them just behind Villanova and Providence College. Cornell University took the title with 55 points.

Women’s Cross Country Earns Fourth At Nassaney Invitational
Smithfield, RI- In the first action of the 2012 season, the Brown women's cross country team raced to fourth place on Bryant University's 5k course. Coach Mitchell Baker used this local spectator-friendly meet as a chance to debut some of the freshman runners and to give several upperclassmen early-season racing experience. Harvard University won the team score with 27 points, followed by Boston College, Quinnipiac University, and Brown with 121 points.

Women's Cross Country Opens 2012 Season at Bryant Invitational
Providence, RI- The Women's Cross Country team kicks off their season this weekend at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield, R.I. The Bears are led by Head Coach Mitchell Baker and senior captains Olivia Mickle (Sacramento, CA) and Bree Shugarts (Lewistown, PA). Mickle is coming into the season strong after competing in the 2012 NCAA Track and Field Championships in the 10k this spring and breaking a 33-year-old school record with a time of 33:59.26.
