Connelly Leads Women at NCAA Northeast Regionals
Madison, Conn. – The Brown University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the final meet of the 2010 season at the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Saturday afternoon held at Hammonnasset State Park . The men finished eighth overall with 240 points in the 35-team field, while the women earned seventh with 226 points.
Rookie Margaret Connelly was once again the women's top performer with a solid time of 20:41.0 for 18th place overall. Senior Lauren Pischel followed behind with a 21:20.5 for 42nd overall and freshman Heidi Caldwell was 46th with a 21:23.8. Sophomore Elaine Kuckertz was Brown's next finisher with a 21:33.6 for 55th, and Kesley Ramsey finished in 64th with a 21:40.5. Also competing today for the women was Ari Garber (21:41.2) and Kat Grimes (22:02.5).
Duffy led the men's squad with a time of 30:38.4 to finish in 22nd place overall, while sophomore Michael Stumpf was the next Bear to cross the line with a 31:15.2 for 43rd. Senior Christian Escareno ran a 31:21.9 for 51st and senior Brian Schilder crossed the finish line with a 31:27.7.
Also giving a strong effort was junior Dan Lowry (31:39.0), sophomore Austin Snyder (32:30.1) and sophomore Kevin Cooper (34:17.6).
