Cross Country Competes in NCAA Northeast Regionals
Boston, MA- The men’s and women’s cross country team
recently competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet at Franklin
Park. The men’s team was led by a 10th place finish by
Christian Escareno, who earned a spot to compete in the NCAA
Division I Cross Country Championship at Indiana State. The
women’s team was led by a 17th place finish by Ariel Wright,
as the squad finished ninth overall with 215 points.
Katie Hursey of Syracuse earned the women’s individual title
with a 21:57 on the 6k course at Franklin Park. PC’s Shelby
Greany garnered second (22:08) and Iona’s Anna Jorgenson
finished in third (22:08). Brown’s Ariel Wright crossed the
line first for the Bears, as she finished in 17th place with a
22:46. Following Wright was Kesley Ramsey (23:25) for 40th,
followed by Ari Garber (23:29), Elaine Kuckertz (23:40) and Lauren
Pischel (23:45). Brown also had solid performances from Megan
Fitzpatrick (23:53), and Erica Hines (24:14).
Iona’s Ryan Sheridan earned the men’s team title with a
time of 30:36 in the 10-kilometer course, as PC’s Lee Carey
(30:46) took second and Harvard’s Daniel Chenoweth (31:03)
placed third. Escareno crossed the finish line with a solid time of
31:19, the best time overall for the men’s team as the squad
finished in sixth place overall with 172 points.
Senior captain Duriel Hardy came in 27th place with a time of 32:06
and Matt Duffy earned 40th with a 32:39. Also competing was John
Haenle (32:51), John Loeser (32:53), Austin Snyder (33:06) and
Colin Brett (35:33).
