Seven Bears Earn CWPA All-Academic Honors

Providence, RI - Graduating seniors Roxanne Palmer (Los Alamitos, CA), Emily Schwartz (Miami Beach, FL), and Alexis Blaxberg (Pinecrest, FL) led a group of seven members of the Brown women's water polo team to earn CWPA All-Academic honors this week. Northern Division Coach of the Year Felix Mercado's squad also turned in a 3.34 team GPA, ranking third in the conference.

Palmer had the team's highest GPA for the second year in a row with a 3.70. Freshman Rita Bullwinkel (Portola Valley, CA) at 3.57, sophomore Lauren Presant (Poway, CA) at 3.56, and Schwartz at 3.46 joined her in earning "Superior" distinction, posting a GPA between 3.41 and 3.7. Blaxberg at 3.40, freshman Katherine Stanton (Danville, CA) at 3.33, and sophomore Sarah Glick (Bonita, CA) at 3.21 earned "Excellent" honors with GPAs above 3.2. Palmer, Schwartz, Presant, and Blaxberg were all repeat honorees.

As a squad, the Bears were one of seven teams to earn the All-Academic distinction. Harvard had the conference's highest team mark at 3.40, followed by Mercyhurst at 3.38. Utica and George Washington rounded out the top five behind the Bears, both at 3.26.

Brown finished the season ranked 20th in the national polls, placing fifth at the Eastern Championship and going 16-15 on the year.
