Elizabeth Balassone Named Honorable Mention ACWPC All-American

Providence, RI - Brown senior center Elizabeth Balassone (Los Altos, CA) has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. A team co-captain, Balassone was second for Brown with 53 goals and 39 ejections drawn in 31 games this season.

Balassone was the only Bear to be named both First Team All-North and All-East. A Psychology concentrator, she was also recently named Academic All-Ivy.

A clutch performer throughout the season, Balassone saved arguably her best weekend of the season for last, as she led the Bears with eight goals en route to a fifth-place finish at the Eastern Championship. She scored game-winning goals on Feb. 11 vs. Wagner (10-8), March 19 at #17 Michigan (9-8), March 25 vs. Pomona-Pitzer (8-7 OT) and Cal State-Bakersfield (9-7), and April 29 vs. Maryland at Easterns (10-9). She also led the team or tied for the team lead in scoring in 10 of 33 games (30 percent). She was named the Northern Division Player of the Week on March 26 after scoring 10 goals and drawing eight ejections in four games at the Aztec Invitational.
