Providence, RI - Brown sophomore Lauren Presant (Poway, CA) was named CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday after scoring 14 goals in the Bears' three weekend wins. Behind Presant's scoring, Brown toppled Maryland, 10-9, and #20 Bucknell, 9-8 in overtime, on Saturday in late, come-from-behind fashion. She then out-scored George Washington herself in an 11-4 Brown win on Sunday.
Against Maryland, Presant scored five goals and had four steals, with the Bears coming back from a three-goal deficit in the third quarter to score the go-ahead goal with 40 seconds remaining. The win was the Bears' first over the Terrapins in three games this season. Later in the day against the ranked Bison, Presant scored four goals, all in the fourth quarter, to help her team erase a four-goal deficit to force overtime. The Bears eventually won on a penalty shot with no time remaining in the second extra frame, 9-8. On Sunday, Presant scored five goals, adding two assists in an 11-8 Brown win.
For the season, Presant has a team-high 62 goals in 21 games. She and the Bears will host #14 Hartwick at Wheaton College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
