Providence, RI - Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Laing (Ann Arbor, MI) was recently selected as the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Northern Division Player of the Week after she tallied 45 saves and seven steals in Brown's first five games at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University.
The Bears faced some of the nation's best competition during the Aztec Invitational, as they dropped games to No. 19 Indiana (9-8), No. 4 Hawaii (20-4), No. 6 California (11-7) and No. 5 San Diego State (10-6). But Bruno finished strong to earn a 7-4 victory over Pacific. In those games, Laing did a stellar job in net for the Bears, as she started the weekend off with six saves against the Hoosiers, followed by seven in two quarters against Hawaii. Laing then went on to record eight against Cal, 13 against the Aztecs and then tallied 10 saves in Brown's win over the Tigers.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. PT against UC Irvine, followed by a 4:00 p.m. match against UCLA on Thursday, March 26.
