Women's Water Polo Takes Second at 2003 Eastern Championships

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The women's water polo team took second in the 2003 Eastern Championships, falling to #13 Indiana, 7-5, in the Championship game, and narrowly missing an NCAA Final Four bid. Senior Melissa Iagulli (Walnut Creek, CA) led the Bears against Indiana with two goals.
Also scoring for Brown was senior Tori Barbata (Kailua, HI), who also drew two ejections, junior Jeanie Ward-Waller (San Antonio, TX), who also drew three ejections, and sophomore Diana Livermore (Menlo Park, CA), who also drew three ejections.
In addition, freshman Allison Biner (Moraga, CA) drew one ejection for the Bears, while junior Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA) notched five steals, and junior Sonia Lamel (LaFayette, CA) tallied three assists.
In net for Brown, junior Keira Heggie (Miami, FL) tallied nine saves.
Barbata, Heggie and Livermore were each recognized on the All-Eastern First Team, while head coach Todd Clapper was honored with the "Doc" Hunkler Eastern Championship Coach of the Year Award.
