#17 Women's Water Polo Advanced to Eastern Semi-Finals with 5-3 Win Over #16 Hartwick

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown women's water polo team advanced to the semi-finals of the 2003 Eastern Championships on Saturday afternoon, defeating Hartwick by a 5-3 score. The Bears have faced the Hawks in two championship events this season, losing in overtime in both games; a 6-5 loss in the ECAC semi-finals, and a 4-3 loss in the Northern Championship game.

Junior Sonia Lamel (LaFayette, CA) led the Bears with three goals, while junior Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA) and senior Tori Barbata (Kailua, HI) each added one. In addition, sophomore Diana Livermore (Menlo Park, CA) drew two ejections, while junior Jeanie Ward-Waller (San Antonio, TX) drew one ejection.

In net for Brown, junior Keira Heggie (Miami, FL) made eight saves. The Bears will face #9 Michigan in the first of two semi-final games, beginning at 6:20 p.m. #13 Indiana and #14 Princeton meet in the other semi-final.
