Women's Water Polo Opens Competition at 2003 Eastern Championships With 11-4 Victory Over Gannon

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown women's water polo team opened competition at the 2003 Eastern Championships on a positive note, cruising past Gannon, 11-4. Junior Jeanie Ward-Waller (San Antonio, TX) led the Bears with three goals and also drew one ejection.
Junior Sonia Lamel (LaFayette, CA) and senior Melissa Iagulli (Walnut Creek, CA) also scored multiple goals, each scoring two, while sophomore Diana Livermore (Menlo Park, CA) notched one goal and drew two ejections. Junior Heidi Wendt (Danville, CA) added one goal and also drew one four-meter. In addition, freshman Allison Biner (Moraga, CA) and junior Jackie Parente (Los Angeles, CA) both tallied one goal for the Bears.
In net, junior Keira Heggie (Miami, FL) stopped five shots in three quarters of action, while freshman Katherine Cummings (La Jolla, CA) made five saves in one quarter. The Bears continue action at the Championships on Saturday, April 26, facing Hartwick at 12:30 p.m.
